domestication

We are working on our second month of marriage and things have finally seemed to settle down, just a little.

In Pettijohn news, we recently decided to spruce up our sweet little balcony with some flowers!! So, we bought two hanging planters for the railing and we got an assortment of pretty pretty buds to brighten up our outdoor living :) Now I can see my mini-garden from our bed, ahhh. I'll have to post pics once we have it all done, because it looks so so pretty! JR was reluctant about the planters, but he was very much surprised when he saw how awesome it looks! He was super husband too, because the planters didn't quite fit the railing and he worked on them until they did! I would've just taken them back...

We've also put our oh-so-fabulous Kitchenaid mixer to good use!!! So far, I've made peanut butter cookies, chocolate cake, and homemade mashed potatoes!! Lu, aren't you proud?! It truly is an amazing little cooking machine, though I still have much to learn.

That's our exciting little married life! JR has been working very very hard at work, and things are going very well for him in the land of U.S. Steel! He gets to go to fancy dinners, and trips, and I think is going to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks...while I sit at home and miss him :)

We are also in discussion about getting a new vehicle...mayyyybe. We'll see where this one goes, don't hold your breath. We can't decide what we want....

That's the newest Pettijohn news! Happy Tuesday!

oops!

I forgot to post these two pics, on our "sneak peek" post! Our photographers, Jenny and Eddie did a wonderful job of capturing all perspectives of the day...not just the obvious posed ones. It really helps us remember the whirlwind that was our wedding!

big day

Today is a sweet day in our house! It has been officially ONE month since we got married, became Mr. and Mrs. Pettijohn...became husband and wife.

JR is my very very best friend, and absolutely, positively perfect for me. I'm pretty perfect for him too though :)

I feel so honored to be his wife, and I now have my best friend to share life with, forever.

He has made all of my dreams come true.

It's been an exciting 30 days, and I can't wait to see what the next one's bring....

I love you millions.

Friday!!

This week has flown by! It's already Friday again! wooo-hooo! Last night we had couple's night out :) We had dinner with the Brock's and the Neaves' at Chili's then back to our house for some So You Think You Can Dance! It was our first time out together as all married couple's! How neat is that?! The Brock's even made us a special treat!! Homemade Kettle Corn, oh my....it was soooooooo good! I had some for breakfast :)

We've been friends for so long, and it's just so awesome to see us all grown up, starting our new lives as wives, and seeing what the next chapter of life will bring each of us :)

So, Friday again....yessssss! JR and I are off to meet Nancy and Ronnie at the lake!! We're staying in a cabin with them, and enjoying some fishing, sun, and good food!!! Lake days are our favorites!! We can't wait to get up there tonight!

We hope you all have a super super Friday! Hopefully I'll come back with some pics from the weekend!

sleeping on a cloud

A favorite past time of mine is sleeping. No, really. I consider it a treat! Sometimes the thought of my impending rest brings a smile to my to my face :)

To me, a comfortable bed is the key to a perfect home....and to me, comfortable=puffy.

Poor JR, I've swayed him into puff-land. I will spend any amount of $$$ on my bed. In college, I had the best bed in Norman. Ingredients: one featherbed, one fiberbed, one mattress pad--all stacked on top of each other. Ridiculous, you might say but the bed enveloped you and was puffy all night long. Oh, and Modal sheets----a must for any perfect bed.

Lastly, a light-weight feather down comforter. The End. Perfection.

JR would rather not sleep in a puff, but he has succumbed to my need of the puff. I think he really does love it, in secret. He just won't say.

Cue, last Saturday. Just your typical Saturday, a little Bed, Bath and Beyond and he let me get my puffy bed! YAY YAY YAY YAY! We found the most spectacular fiberbed, and it is plush, puffy, squishy, and cloud-like. It met all of my requirements and more!!! That now is on top of our memory foam, haha, I am awesome. Our bed now resembles more of a mountain, really neat. I have to climb in and out of bed. The ol', run-n-jump method works too...

The only problem is though, the kitties think we bought it for them...it is SO plush, and has the baffle-box stitching that each "section" creates it's own puff and the kitties each like to find their own little area and snuggle right on in. Beanie almost pushed me to the ground the other night, because I was in his area. Hmm....

Needless to say, I have had the most amazing sleep the last two days and I just wanted to share my joy of sleeping!

Ode to the puffy bed :)
