I'm a "good find" hunter...that's about the only hunting I do...

I've been searching for the perfect hampers for the house---not too big, not plastic, etc...

I found these, and bought two to put side by side:

Mine actually are a cherry wood color, and I loooove that they have Laundry embroidered on them. Love.

You can find them here!

Fringe is the new black. I say so.

I can't get enough of it. I do that with things I like----I'll buy everything fringe, let's say, and then once my closet looks like Frontier Fringe, I'm over it.

Until then, I intend on fringe-ing myself silly.

I got these pups, in black, but the brown shows better the fringe.
I wore these to the Lindberg wedding, and they were a hit :) I danced the fringe off of 'em...

baby brother

I meant to include this in the last post, but the Stillwater-leg of our trip was so wonderful, I thought I'd share some pics of my oh-so-talented brother and his equally talented love on their very own post!

Taking a tour of their studio...

Brother "working" on his next project

How talented are they?!

We got to see their most recent projects! They even included mom and dad in them :)

Alex's apartment! I love this picture!!

What a great time we had with you guys, and so proud of you!

around the world

In 48 hours, we managed to make it to Tulsa for a wedding, Stillwater to see our brother, and Norman for some Ted's :)

oh, and back to Dallas.

JR played photographer at Jason and Lauren's wedding, so we ended up with 200 after-party pics :) I must sort thru them before I post, they deserve their very own. Here's a brief overview of what a sweet wedding it was.

It was an OU reunion for us, and perfect because it was all of us together again-----what a party it was. Don't even think for a minute that I didn't dance my little fringed feet off....I may have covered every square inch of that's a teaser!

There was an after party, to the after party....yeah. It was that fun.

On Sunday, we got up and headed down to Stillwater to see brother!!! Him and Rachel met us at Eskimo Joe's for lunch first! I told Alex, that is the only town I can go to and not feel compelled ot buy a souvenir :) We did stop at the Wooden Nickel, though...

We finally got to see his oh-so-cute apartment, and he even gave me a treat! An OU treat!! He bought me a handpainted OU Christmas ornament!!! My two very favorite things rolled into one! What a lucky sister I am, to have him as a brother!

I've been working on an OSU painting for him, and finally got it finished----it's on it's way to you today Alex! We had SUCH a wonderful time with you guys! Thank you, thank you for having us over!

his day

I have been anxiously awaiting JR's birthday for atleast a month now...I love gift giving, LOVE.

It's one of my favorite things to do. Really.

This year, I decided to get JR two treats! Anytime he casually mentions anything he likes, I write it down so I've compiled a list of his "wants" so that when birthdays/holidays/or if I see it while I'm out, I can gift him and surprise him with all of the things he likes!!

One of the treats on his "wish list" was a North Face Denali jacket---they are so so warm and very practical for fall and winter.

Mom and dad gifted him with a leather briefcase/bag that he also has been wanting! Something nice to take to work!!

Then it was my turn for my special gift!!!! I had a book made, documenting our honeymoon, with pictures and turned out even better than I had imagined!! I'll have to take actual pics of the book to show!! He loved it.

stealing a kiss from the birthday boy

got it :)

wearing his North Face & reading his new book!!!

Presents actually came last, because mom and dad took him out to dinner at La Duni for a delicious dinner and after that headed back to our house for presents and dessert!!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday, babe!

comfort food

I love a new twist on an old favorite---this recipe immediately made my hungry. Can't wait to try it!

Logan County Hamburgers

from the The Comfort Table by Katie Lee Joel (yes, Billy Joel's wife---weird)

Dubbed the Logan County Hamburger, the burger is a creation of Joel's grandmother who made the burger with cheap ingredients during tough times. It's simple, yet delicious and intensely comforting. The combination of the beef, melted cheese, and crisp bread is perfectly satisfying.

1 pound ground beef (85 percent lean)
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 medium yellow onion, half grated, the other half thinly sliced
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon kosher salt1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper12 slices white bread
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
12 slices American cheese, optional

1. In a medium bowl, combine the beef, egg, grated onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined.
2. Form into thin patties.
3. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.
4. Heat a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burgers about 3 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. Drain the grease from the skillet.
5. In the same skillet, place six slices of bread, butter side down. Top each with a slice of cheese, if desired, some onions and a burger. Top with remaining slices of cheese, if using, and bread, butter side up.
6. Cook each sandwich until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side.
7. Serve with mustard, ketchup, pickles, or any other desired hamburger toppings

new venture (updated)

I'm not the most creative of people, as I've made quite public, but I thoroughly do enjoy the process of painting, designing, etc....

After a couple of projects I have kinda, sorta, maybe, not-so-sure, perhaps going to start up my own little side business. It stems from the two paintings (ha) I've done, and a few design projects I've created...

Thus the name of my "sidey" business----Homemade & Handpainted! Unless ofcourse, that name is already taken on Etsy!

Now, I'm just toying around with the idea but I thought I'd share a few of my projects.

the Halloween painting I did for Stephanie

you've seen this one, 16 times already---but I'm thinking of doing some other schools as well!! made to order!

this is the invitation Holly asked me to make for Luke's 1st Birthday

Polka Dot Halloween
Pastel Halloween
this became the card made for Stephanie and her family
i've also experimented with some Christmas designs, jr's favorite
this is one of my favorites, Neon Christmas

Perfect Color Christmas
It's a Polka Kinda Christmas
another favorite of mine, Linear Christmas
a couple of blank canvases, yet to design the rest...

Simple Christmas, I think my first design

my very very favorite, probably the one's I use for us this year!

it's a newlywed christmas

it's a colorful christmas
