no better sound

...than the beat of our baby's heart.

That's right!! We've been listening to Baby P all weekend! After much research, and after spotting it in a few of my pregnancy magazines, we decided to try out a heartbeat doppler! It really may be the most amazing thing we've done/heard/seen since first finding out about Baby P.

Our intention was to be able to listen to our baby in the privacy of our own home away from doctors, and listen whenever we want :) It comes shipped with the doppler gel they use at the doctor's office and everything! So so so so so so worth it.

To hear our tiny miracle just beating away, there are no words to describe the feeling...highly recommend it to any new parents-to-be.

Bah!

I just found out, much like other bloggers, what happens on The Bachelor...

I'm not much of a reality show watcher, but I did catch this season and even made JR watch it :)

I won't spoil it for you, even though I really want to just SAY IT!

Does anyone else know toooooo??

holy mackarel.

(p.s. if you're wondering what I watch 99% of the time: murder mysteries, only the real ones. As in I LOVE them. First 48, Primetime, Dateline, Snapped, American Justice---my husband thinks I have a problem....I secretly want to be a detective)

edit: if my murder mysteries are real, does that make them reality shows? oh my word, i hope not. i was proud of myself for not being a reality show watcher...perplexed.

meet her!

The Pettijohn's have met have a new friend!! Please introduce yourself to a WONDERFUL blogger, Adventures in Newlywed!! She has a super CUTE blog, stop by and say HI!

orange love

We spent our Valentine's wknd just growing! How about you?? This week we are happily the size of an orange!!

I find it very odd, that prior to checking my "fruit" growth on Monday mornings, this is the 2nd or 3rd time I've eaten the exact fruit for that day?! Neat :) Today it was an orange, of course.

I'm more of a "crimson" girl myself, but this week I'll gladly sport the orange

and more BIG news

You can honestly say that we never fail to surprise you with Pettijohn Family News!! So to continue the tradition, we announce the next BIG news in our house:

The Pettijohn's are moving to Pittsburgh, eeeeeeeeeeeeeek :) yes, Pittsburgh. The one in Pennsylvania. Up North.

The story goes, and is rather simple actually, that JR's company decided to close down their Dallas office. In doing so, we were extremely fortunate enough to have been given a relocation offer. (I'm making a very long story short, you don't want to know what my pregnancy hormones said thru this duration) Only a handful of employees were given the option of relocation and after daily prayers, discussion with our family, prayer, prayer, and some more prayer we made the very BIG decision to accept the offer to Pittsburgh.

Times are very tough in our world, our country, our economy thus we feel a strong responsibility to make the best move possible for our growing family. JR loves his job, his co-workers and in accepting the offer, keeps him in a business that is so well suited for him. Our option of staying close to home, was and is so tempting but taking the challenge of this opportunity and adventure seemed too good to pass up.

The hardest part, without a doubt, will be the distance from our family and friends. I almost don't need to go further with that, because it will make me cry :(

We trust fully in our hearts that this is God's timing, and His plan for us, and so of course WE WILL FOLLOW!!!!! It takes away our fear, and gives us so much excitement to draw closer to each other as husband and wife as we move to a new city, with new experiences, new responsibilities and a new BABY!!!

Sometimes in life, the greatest challenges bring forth the greatest rewards. This here is a challenge, folks :) Our family and friends could not be more supportive. We have had a chance to sit and talk with our nearest and dearest and not one person has told us to pass on this opportunity...this gave us great comfort in making our decision.

The move is likely not a permanent one, however, we will embrace it fully and make our home in Pitt. This made us so very aware of our blessings of good health, such a loving family, the very best of friends, and to hopefully a successful future for our little family

We thank you from the bottom, bottom of our hearts for your prayers and we are really looking forward to hosting you in the city of Pittsburgh!!!!! We'll even have a sweet baby to introduce you to :) YAYYYYYYYYYY!

oh! and I get to be a stay-at-home mommy! that's my BIG news, hehe. I am thrilled out of my mind to wake up to my husband and our baby and spend my days watching Baby grow! Does it get any better?!?! I think not. My job now is house hunting, but I will keep those a secret until we find THE one, and I'm verrrrry excited to show you!!!

That covers this segment of news, but don't be surprised if I come up with something else....oh my word, I joke. I hope that's it!!!!

**and at our new house, I'm flying the biggest OU flag Pitt has ever seen!!! It may be the only one in town, hahaha!

your turn

From Lindsey at Sweet Simplicity!!

What are your middle names? I don't have one, and his is George. I really don't have one. It gave me a complex growing up. Furthermore, because my brother got one and I didnt! My children WILL have one. Can you tell it was a complex?

How long have you been together? We officially started dating in August of 2005 after an impromptu trip to Miami :) His theory is that I took him out there to "woo" him, and make him fall in love with me----the TRUTH is that he was in love with me LONG before!! hehehe! We still battle this one out to this day...it will never rest! I always tried to hook him up with my friends, slowly realizing that he was way too HOT and SWEET to pass up myself, thus the idea for the Miami trip came about! (kidddddddding)

How long did you know each other before you started dating? Four years, met him my freshman year in college.

Who asked who out? Um, we were best friends for years and so there was no official first date per se, so I guess Miami. Which would make me the initiator, hmm.

How old were each of you when you met? I was 19 which would make him 22.

How old are each of you now? I'm 25 and he's 28, pushing 30 ;)

How tall are each of you? I am 5'2" and JR is 5'11".

Whose siblings do you see the most? I would say his more only because my sweet brother is all the way up in Cowboy land, ol' Stillwater.

Do you have any children together? Well we've got one cookin'!! How about that?!?!

What about pets? Biggin' & Beanie, our sweet baby kitties

Did you go to the same school? Nope, never. I felt like he went to OU because he was allllllways there. To see me :)

Are you from the same hometown? Nope, but I sure do love his hometown.

Who is the smartest? He is fo sho. I like to think I'm pretty smart though, is that fair?!

Who is the most sensitive? me, me, me, me, me, me, me. Did I say me? I currently cry at commercials, the National Anthem, myself...etc...

Where do you eat out most as a couple? It depends on where we are: at home it's Campania (when it was good), Taverna; in OK it's Salas', ma-in-law's cooking, Meers; on the road it's the best DQ in all of Texas. Gourmet style DQ :)

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple? Punta del Este, Uruguay

Who does the cooking? That would be me!

Who is more social? I would say him. He said he is shocked at how much of a home-body I am...it's because he remembers Nat from my OU days----I need not go further.

Who is the neat-freak? My husband IS!!!!!!! There is nothing neat about me. Nothing.

Who hogs the bed? The kitties. They both end up on my side and I always end up sandwiched in the middle in between all of my boys!

Who wakes up earlier? He does, the morning does me no good. I do the morning no good. We don't like each other. Baby will make sure I change those habits...so I've been told.

Who has the bigger family? I would say we're both tied. Mine are pretty spread out around the world and his are mostly all in the OK. What a pretty family we have :)

How do you spend the holidays? With our family, wherever they may be! We're hoping for a Red River Christmas and a New Year in Punta del Este!!

Who is more jealous? I take that honor.

Do you have little pet names for each other? Mostly, babe. I have a few others for him that do not need to be publicized. Sometimes I call him and the kitties the same names, he hates that! Rightfully so, but I can't help it. Our kitties too, have about 14,000 nicknames.

How long did it take to get serious? From that first kiss on, there was no turning back!! I get to love him forever.

Who eats more? I do, and that's a pre-pregnancy answer too.

Who sings better? He secretly has a good voice, mine could break glass.

Who’s older? He is, and I love to remind him of that. Ha!

Who does the dishes? I cook, he dishes.

Who snores? He does, and I yank his pillow around to make him stop. It makes me laugh everytime :)

Who’s better with the computer? Me.

Who drives when you are together? He almost ALWAYS drives, I love that!!

Who is the first to admit when they're wrong? ummmm, I think me. Only because I don't stay mad long...I'm too forgetful to stay mad.

Who kissed who first? He kissed ME first!!!! in Miami!!

Who eats more sweets? oh me. I am a disgusting hog. I bake entire cakes for myself.

just for him

a music video for my husband!! look for all of the personalization throughout the video :)

Happy Valentine's babe!!

smarty pants

I interrupt the baby blogging for something near and very dear to my heart:

THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

This article came out in the Dallas News today, about OU being able to attract more merit scholars than that oh-so-hated school down south in that weird town in Texas. I'll let you guess which school I'm talking about.

To further my point, said quote, from a recruiter from that oh-so-hated-school-down-south-in-that-weird-town-in-Texas, "Oklahoma is one of those very aggressive schools that does a lot to get students to enroll,” he said. “We’re not necessarily offering the kind of money they’re getting there. But we offer something else—this university, its diversity, the city of Austin.”

Bahahaha, you lose. "OU’s recruitment program won over Amanda Holloway, who was a National Merit scholar at Plano Senior High School. She applied to UT and Ivy League schools but finally chose OU. Now 22, she is student body president.

“The thing that really stood out to me was the personal attention [OU] gave,” she said. “They really cater to you.”

But, of course. Read here. Love to see OU stealing some Texas thunder :)

I may be Texas "born", but I'm Sooner bred!!!!!

(Baby P got those booties from mommy, aren't they SO cute? already a Sooner!)

and for the prince

Really this could go either way, but I have a love for all things white---although that may change with Baby but I can atleast try and start Baby out loving white just like mommy does :) and to not spit-up on white clothes, or color on white clothes, or get food on white clothes. Oops! Sorry! Mommy was dreaming!!

This is Pottery Barn's Organic Newborn Cardigan and Leggings, so sweet. Yeah yeah, I know. All white + Baby=bad idea, but I can't help myself.

Want to see my dream nursery? It's dream because it fits my all-white theme. Unless I am blessed with a perfectly clean child this nursery ain't gonna happen. I'm not the tidiest of people, so Baby doesn't stand a chance if it takes after me. A mommy can only dream, right?

I love how simple and clean it looks. Just a dream.

for cute-ness sake

I give up on promising less baby entries. With that said, I'll cute-en up your day some.

If Baby P is a princess, this will be one of Baby's first purchases. Sue London baby flats, are they CUTE or what? Goodness.

(I still think Baby P is a prince, though!)

irony

Following suit of Darci at Life at The White House, I thought I'd play along with the 4th picture of the 4th file on your computer game, in hopes that it had nothing to do with baby stuff---as I'm sure you guys are getting sick of hearing baby, baby, baby! and no, this is not turning into a baby blog but it consumes my life right now and forever on :) you must understand!!

Soo, as irony would have it I'm holding a baby (sweet baby Luke! look how tiny he was there, Holly!!) holding on to our niece Emma Rose at our first wedding shower at Central!! What a special day for us! Little did we know a year later we'd have Baby P on the way! Lots can happen in a year, huh??

I now tag, YOU!

what a peach

Exactly a week ago today, Baby P was a plum and today has grown to the size of a peach!!

I had a peach for breakfast too! It's a peachy day for us :)

Today we are at 13wks/4days ♥

thank you

Baby P sends a very special thank you to The Thrasher's for a very sweet gift...

It's a Mommy bear! This soft bear attaches to the crib and plays the sound of mommy's heartbeat--the sound Baby is so used to hearing.

What a neat gift! Thank you VERY much!!
